A "War Against Iran" must be prevented.
The Bush administration now is revealing plans for a possible attack on Iran. We are told that an attack on Iran by Israel is imminent. We are now told in the press that the U.S. would then respond with a major bombing attack on Iran if Israel is attacked.
As spiritual progressives, we do not support "The U.S. desire for empire building" and the need to be in a permanent state of war.
The only "winners" under these conditions are the merchants of war. The big losers are becoming obvious to all.
Even though our leaders have been repeatedly advised that diplomacy is our only hope for the future, our current leadership in the U.S. is determined to continue on this self chosen path of death and destruction.
Journalist Seymour Hersh recently wrote an article for the New Yorker magazine about the U.S.plans for Iran. The article, "PREPARING THE BATTLEFIELD", details U.S. plans for engagement in Iran.
As spiritual progressives who support peace and diplomacy over war and destruction, it is urgent that we contact our senators and representatives
with reminders of the views that we would like to see represented on our behalf.
On the top right hand corner of this page are links to all senators and representatives for San Diego residents. Call and email them with your concerns.
This is also a reason for all spiritual progressives to become active in "Election Integritiy" efforts in their community. Today, it is literally a matter of life and death ! Let your senators and representatives know about your concerns about the integrity of your vote.
If our current senators and representatives are not voting in a way that represents our values, then we want to be able to work to elect others who will better represent us.
As spiritual progressives who value peace and diplomacy, we want to have confidence that our votes cast for candidates who share our values
are votes that are counted and counted accurately. Only then will there be the possibility that our country can change direction.
If our president is allowed to attack Iran without the support of the public, we will all be forced to suffer the consequences together. Now is the time to make yourself heard. Peace will only happen if the public demands it. Now is the time for spiritual progressives to lead the way to peace.
